John,

Thanks so much for caring enough to respond.

I was diagnosed by Dr. Mohamed, an associate of Dr. Abu-Asal. Dr. Mohamed trained
under Dr. Iacono. I had cervical spine surgery (two level fusion) 3 years ago Dr.
Abu-Asal. The symptoms seemed to be coming back, but slightly different from before.
I had an MRI and it showed bone spurs (7) of them growing inside the old fusion. Dr.
Abu-Asal though the pressure of the spurs on my spinal cord was causing the symptoms
in my right arm and shoulder. So he did surgery 7/97 to remove the bone spurs and fuse
one more level. It never got better. They said wait a little longer, the spurs might
have bruised the nerves. But it started getting worse. My fingers were drawing in and
I could barely write. It was so bad I stopped using my credit cards for fear they
would think I was forging my name. My right leg also started to hurt and get numb

On my next visit I saw Dr. Mohamed and he had me do the usual finger taps, etc. then he
quietly told me that what I had was Parkinson's. I was floored. He gave me several
Rx's and within 3 days I could write normally, some of the arm stiffness was gone and
all the leg symptoms were gone. I didn't want to believe it, but when the meds worked,
I knew he was right. He had me have a consultation with Dr. Iacono to have him go over
my meds and see what he thought. He was delighted and said Dr. Mohamed was riht on.

The meds I'm taking now:
Amantadine - 100 mg 3 X day
Parlodel - 5 mg 3 X day
Hydergine - 3 mg 3 X day
Paxil - 20 mg 2 X day
Zoloft - 50 mg at night
neurotonin - 4 capsules day
Klonipin - 1 mg at bedtime
plus over the counter meds he prescribed:
Evening Primrose Oil - 3 capsules a day
Choline - 2 capsules a da7
B complex vitamin at bedtime
Medicines I was already taking prior to the dx:
Premaring - 0.625 1 a day
Dyazide - 1 capsule daily
Levoxyl - .50 tablet 1 a day
Vicodin - 500 mg on an as needed basis

I don't think I left anything out!

I would happily receive any info, advice, etc. from anyone.

Thanks again for your having so kindly responded to my posting

All my best,

Claudia Goldberg
