Phil, Did you read Vonnegut's Syracuse Commencement Address of 1994. Never put so simply, bestowing hope through the following passage: "saints ...people who behave decently and honorably in societies which were so often obscene. Perhaps many of us here, regardless of our ages or power or wealth, can be saints for her child to meet."
