Carole, you deserve a lot of credit, as does your sister, but you are under even more stress. You should check and see what services you can get from Medicare, for your mom. They can send in help for bathing, or wound care, for example. It cannot hurt to ask what you are entitled to. Don't forget, this is not charity, if you are typical, you have paid in to the system, or someone in your family has, for many years. It is there for the asking. It keeps professionals employed, and I might add, they are well trained and pleasant. It may help to avoid ever having to put your mother into a nursing home. Another possibility is having someone come in part time, to help you, this would be paid from your pocket, though, and can be expensive, but you might get a medical or nursing student, for example, to work for a reasonable amount for a few hours as needed.
