Hi everyone. I am a new member to the list I am 23 and help to care for my 60 year old grandmother how has pd, her symptoms are severe and progress very rapidly, I am hoping to learn anything that could help her. We live in central Illinois and havent been very successful finding a specialist or a support group. The support group we found is a hour drive and it is difficult for her to ride in the car that long. The reason for this posting is because I am also interested in all the info I can get about pallidotomy. For example what are the risks, is it helpful for people with severe symptoms(and are not responding well to sinemet), where are some of the best places to have it done, and are there any locations near Illinois that are doing this surgery?
