I've been on Tasmar(R) / tolcapone 200mg. @ 6 hour intervals for 1
year and find it (combined with 50/200 Sinemet CR) gives me a very
smooth ride. (Incidentally, breaking the 50/200 tablets in 1/2 and
then taking a 1/2 tablet every 3 hours makes it even smoother, as
long as you can remember to take your meds on time)

I hadn't considered the economics of this since I haven't had to pay
for this.

Tolcapone is available here in Canada at the local
pharmacy. The price for the 200mg. tablet is 100 for 350.00 or $3.50
a pop and you take 3 a day for $10.50 a day. This is in Canadian
depressed dollars but translates to $2.45 a tablet in US dollars or
roughly $7.35 / day. It ain't cheap that's fer sure!!!!!!!!!!

But then as long as companies like Roche pick up the tab for research
I guess we can expect that sooner or later they will have to extract
their "pound of flesh". The "Glory" doesn't appear on the quarterly
report bottom line.

It has been my good fortune to receive this medication at no cost as
part of a clinical study and even when study meds are no longer
available I expect I will be reimbursed by my benefits program.

Thanks and all the best............Murray
