Chewing an entire tablet of either does not make much sense. The regular will
dissolve relatively rapidly. It is not uncommon to dissolve a tablet in
ginger ale or orange juice with added ascorbic acid (vit C) and drink a
portion to get rapid transit into the lower stomach and into the small
intestine to be absorbed quickly. This will not "work" if the stomach is not
relatively empty.

chewing the CR will defeat the "controlled release" - slow dissolving "binder"
comprising the tablet.

smaller pieces of either will tend to dissolve faster. The digestive acids
and presence of minimum amount of food to cause digestive flow into the
duodenum is requisite for the levodopa and carbidopa to get into the blood
stream through the intestinal wall via the LNAA-tranporters as I recall they
are labeled.
