In Ohio the spouse must spend down to about $76,000. The house and the car are allowed, but the problem in my parent's situation is that they had to sell their house and move into a retirement community at a cost of $1,700 a month. That uses up the major portion of the yearly income. We are trying to look out for my mother's interest in case dad does need long term care. Marcia
