Disipal (orphenadrine hydrochloride) which she took when first = diagnosed stopped the tremor in its tracks for about three weeks and = then failed to work. The side effects were extreme nausea, dizziness = etc.., so she discontinued it . She eventually went on to procyclidine = hydrochloride (Kemadrin) 1-5mg three per day after meals which, whilst = it does not stop the tremor makes it tolerable. When she has tried = discontinuing it the tremor is very much worse. She also takes 1 - 125 Madopar CR once a day, in the morning and 1 - = 125 Madopar regular three times a day. Reduction of these also = exacerbates the tremor.=20 It may be worth discussing this combination of levodopa and = anticholinergic drugs with your doctor .=20 So far as reading is concerned she uses either a bean bag lap tray, or = an adjustable reading tray with a piece of strong (1/2" wide) elastic = going lengthways round the tray to keep the book, or newspaper in = position, and lifts the elastic out of the way when she wants to turn = the page. I hope that this is of some help, With best wishes Ray ([log in to unmask]) =20 (cg Helen 82/7) =20 ------=_NextPart_000_0006_01BD512E.38DD13C0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD W3 HTML//EN"> <HTML> <HEAD> <META content=3Dtext/html;charset=3Diso-8859-1 = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META content=3D'"MSHTML 4.71.1712.3"' name=3DGENERATOR> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT color=3D#000000 size=3D2>Joan,</FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=3D#000000 size=3D2></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT color=3D#000000 size=3D2>Helen's main PD <FONT = color=3D#000000>symptom=20 </FONT>has been/is tremor, and she has probably tried all of = the=20 conventional drugs, including Requip - "been there - taken=20 that!".
