Hello listmembers,

I am new on the list. I would like to introduce myself:
My name is Hans van der Genugten, age 44. I live in Goes in the Netherlands.
Parkinsons Disease was diagnosed in 1993. Looking back I already had some
vage symptoms of PD in the middle of the 1980's. Until now PD has the most
effect on the left side of my body. So far the symptoms are relatively mild
and the progression is slow. Medication: I use Eldepryl (selegiline) 2 x 0,5
mg/day. In the past years I have tried several PD-medications, but the
effects were: no effect at all in spite of relative high doses, some even
worsened the PD-symptoms, and some gave PD-symptoms I didn't have before I
took that medication (and disappeared again after stopping that medication).
Some also made me feel like a zombie. I have tried as single treatment or
combined the following: Sinemet CR 500 mg/day; Permax (pergolide) 2 mg/day;
Symmetrel; Tremblex; Eldepryl. The thought of Parkinsonism instead of PD has
crossed my mind (and that of my neurologist), because in the beginning my
tremor was not so evident as it is these days.
So, in 1993 I went for a second opinion to a PD-specialist in Amsterdam.
He diagnosed then PD for 98% sure and the increasing tremor since has only
confirmed his diagnosis. From time to time I will use the next medication on
the list until hopefully one day the right one for me will come along.
Together with my Tineke we organise meetings for two supportgroups (a
yoppersgroup and a regular group) in our area. Finally: my hobby is (what
else?): the computer!!

Greetings, Hans.

Hans van der Genugten, the Netherlands.
