In connection with this I am surprised that no one such as our various PD
organizations apparently has come up with dollar figures that could be saved
if a cure were found for it

Subject: Congressional hearing on Alzheimer's Disease

> There was a report on NBC Evening News tonight about
>Congressional hearings on federal spending for Alzheimer's
>Disease. It focused on the coming economic problems for the
>nation as the Baby Boom generation ages, and the number of
>Alzheimer's patients greatly increases. I thought I heard the
>reporter talk about spending $100 million for research today to
>save billions of dollars in Medicare costs in the future. I
>wondered if he was actually referring to the Udall Bill, and had
>his facts mixed up. Were the hearings on Parkinson's research
>held today as well, or do we know when they will be held? Let's
>hope the PD hearings receive the same kind of news coverage as
>today's did.
