Hi List Members;

In the last 24 hours I've been asked (off-list) several questions
about disability in Canada. Now I turn on the Sunday e-mail and read
Barb's post & Shari's post re: qualifying for disability and red
tape. I looked up the following information yesterday and earlier
today and in light of all the queries decided to post the body of one
of my responses.

Since I got your e-mail yesterday I was astounded to find the Govt. of
Canada had moved or altered virtually every web site I had in my
notes. My brain works even when I'm asleep and this morning I was
able to locate things that evaded my efforts yesterday. The answers
to your questions are available through Human Resources search engine.
 See below.

It seems the questions of who qualifies and how much might one expect
are somewhat akin to asking "How big is a fish?????"

There are a host of programs both national (federal) and provincial
(state) as well as municipal (county) and civic (city). I believe US
Social Security is the Federal Program so I concentrated on the
Canadian equivalent: Canada Pension Plan Disability

I tried to look at some sites I looked at last year but they've
changed their sites and most come back "Could not locate the server
etc."

Through search engines and a little dogged perserverance I found these
sites which may give you the info. you are seeking.........

Canada Pension Plan Homepage

From this I gathered Finance Canada is responsible for the money for
social services so I searched their site and found they have: Finance
Canada HotLinks http://www.fin.gc.ca/access/linkse.html

This leads one to believe actual monies are paid by:
