My first reaction to the article is, "That's terrible! What a horrid thing to do to people!" Given a few moments of thought, maybe not. I don't know if any of us would pass up a chance to find a cure, not after watching our productive lives come dragging to a close. I question the advantage of a "19%" improvement on physical assessment tests. I think that might be acheived for most of us by a fine tuning of our meds. From the stories by the "Hole-in-the-head" Gang, the entire concept of a surgical fix is questionable. Like the drugs we take, for some it works, for others it doesn't do anything and for still others it makes things worse. The bottom line is that the majority should not judge the ethics of the individual in his choice of treatment. Be it fetal cell transplants or candles from the voodoo lady, the path we take for relief of PD should be dictated not by the ethics of a society at large, but by the voice within us when we close our eyes. Off the subject but still interesting, and I'm being serious here - if the pig fetal cell transplant were found to be a potential cure for PD, what would an Orthodox Jew do? -- Jerry Finch The Official PWP Dumpster Gang Hideout http://www.newcountry.nu/pd/
