George, Are you in counselling? Perhaps you should be. I am not trying to offend you, but I have suffered from clinical depression for nearly 5 years now and been suicidal many times, even had the local law enforcement come to see me twice because of the concern of my friends and family. I was told by my neuro that 40% or more of young onset pwp have clinical depression, usually as the first definable symptom, and often taking a long time to associate it with pd. I do not have stats on the suicide rate, but judging by the numbers of people who are clinically depressed and my own experience, I believe that the number is rather large. Also consider the people that have had assisted suicide, nearly all of which were/are suffering from chronic disorders. And as to Barb M., Ivan, and anyone else getting on tv, in my opinion, it helps us, our cause, and the general public's education. I am and have been a public speaker for many years. Although, I have not been on television nationally, I have been on locally many times (probably in the several hundred appearances) and since I was diagnosed 3 years ago, I do not hesitate to let people know of my condition or what they can do to help me and millions of others. don't forget how to laugh (and do it often) Marling McReynolds [log in to unmask]
