For a title, perhaps "Writing Programs Without Comp 101" might reflect what I understand we're trying to explore. For the Canadian caucus session, I propose the following submission: Rationalizing Historical Weakness --------------------------------- Writing programs without a dedicated first-year comp course MAY theoretically be ideal, but in Canada they often reflect impoverished necessity arising from an anti-rhetorical history in English Studies. Today, that historical bias is reinforced by fiscal retrenchment.
