Hi everyone, It's April 30th and I've had only one submission for the Canadian Roundtable in Atlanta (March 24-27, 1999). Several people have volunteered to chair the session, but I still need someone to chair the Canadian Caucus. (I believe it has been the tradition for the Inkshed Newsletter editors to chair it, but I'm not going to be there, and Amanda hasn't mentioned yet if she's going. I'm just concerned that I have a name to submit on the form.) So, just the refresh your memories, here's what I said in the original message about this roundtable: <snip> The conference theme is Visible Students/Visible Teachers, and the Canadian Roundtable will focus on "Teaching Writing Without Comp 101". Graham Smart (Purdue) and Guy Allen (U.of T.) have offered to help me vet abstracts and prepare the submission. I would welcome suggestions to improve the title, but am leaving it as it was suggested at the caucus session for now. The feeling was that in Canada, many of us teach writing outside the traditional American freshman comp model, and so we should explore/share the different ways in which we do that. <snip> I must have the submission postmarked by May 8, or we won't get on the programme at all. So if you want to present in the roundtable, please send me a 200-word abstract asap. I also need your institutional affiliation, mailing address, home and office phone #s, fax, and e-mail. Just in case you missed the discussion about the multiple sumission rule, I'll repeat it here. You may chair any session or present in a workshop, caucus, or SIG, and _still_ be on the program in another speaking role. Our roundtable is considered a regular session, so no one may present in it who is also presenting in another panel, forum, roundtable or classroom sampler. This means you could chair either the caucus or the roundtable and still have another speaking role. So please ensure that we have our Canadian Roundtable. Send your 200-word abstracts today!
