My father spent over 20 years in textile manufacturing, supervising the
operation of a facility where synthetic fabrics were bonded and dyed.  The
various processes involved strong chemicals - the one thing I remember most
from visiting him at the office was the odor.  I have suspected for some
time that the exposure to these chemicals could be a factor in his PD.

This weekend, I found out that the man who was his boss also has PD.  Both
men are of similar age, ethnic and socio-economic background, and worked in
the same building.  Considering that the rate of occurrence of PD is about
15 cases per 100,000 population, I have a hard time believing that this is
sheer coincidence.  A small sample, but an interesting finding.
