My brother, who lives 300 miles away, has had PD for about 2 years. =
We visited him before last Christmas and, although it was obvious that =
his ability to carry on a conversation was going down hill (speaking =
slowly and, sometimes, forgetting his subject before he was through with =
a long sentence) it appeared that he was managing reasonably well.
Last week, we were called and told that he had been taken to the =
hospital because he had "wasted away to nothing" and was too weak to do =
anything. After surfing the net, I see that the loss of weight is =
something to look out for and that there are ways to fight it. While =
he has a reputable doctor, the doctor is a cardiologist and now that I =
have been surfing on the subject of PD, I believe that I know more about =
it that the doctor. (At least, I know that my brother needs a PD =
specialist - his present doctor doesn't seem to see that.) The present =
doctor's response to the loss of weight is to send him to the hospital =
for a lower GI exam "and whatever else it takes to find the cause of the =
weight loss."
I know that there is a business called BEST DOCTORS that will, for a =
fee, find the best doctor in a given area for whatever illness you name. =

I have two questions:
Does this group maintain a list of best doctors for PD?
Does anyone know of the best doctor in the Richmond, VA area for =
PD?
This is my first post on the Parkinsn List. I don't know if the =
