In this issue it was mentioned in one of the messages that it might be
good to announce Parkinson Support Group Meetings so here goes my first
on the internet.

THE PARKINSON SUPPORT GROUP IN WESTFIELD meets on the second
Monday every month at 1:30 PM at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
The meetings are held in the lounge of the Parish House located at 140
Mountain Avenue in Westfield, New Jersey. Further information and
directions to the church may be obtained by calling the church office at
908-233-0301.
Our motto or purpose is: We formed our group to foster the
maximum potential for living by Parkinson people and their families. By
getting together at these meetings, they provide themselves with
opportunities for self-help, social contacts, and a chance to share
personal experiences about coping with Parkinsonism.
The group is now in its third year and growing steadily. Some of
our speakers include Margery Mark, MD, and Lawrence I. Golbe, MD, members
of the Parkinson Research Group, of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical
School, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey; Lola
Sprinzeles, RN, Phd, Clinical Specialist at the Parkinson Disease
Foundation, at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, New York City. At
our next meeting in May we will have a husband and wife team, Joe and
Mary Ann Lapinski, owners of "Wheels Up! Travel. They specialize in all
kinds of travel for people with mobility problems. Mary Ann is confined
to a wheelchair due to MS.
We publish a monthly newsletter, issue press releases in all of
the local and regional newspapers, TV Stations, and on three of the
Westfield Web sites.
