George, I have a history of heart disease in my family. Both my grandfathers died at 51 of cardiac arrest and my maternal grandmother died of the same at 66. My paranoi in full bloom, I had heart palpatations on a couple of occasions. One prior to and one post pallidotomy. Each time they did an EKG. They had far different results with the second on normal. The docs thought it must be from an improved diet. Hell, my diet hadn't change, but I did in fact have a Pallidotomy. George, does this mean that you and I aren't heartless after all? I appreciate your post as "because of my age" (I've heard that before) they really reach for the reason towards such a dramatic change. Thanks Again, Greg Leeman 37/7 -----Original Message----- From: Parkinson's Information Exchange [mailto:[log in to unmask]]On Behalf Of george lussier Sent: Monday, April 20, 1998 7:23 AM To: Multiple recipients of list PARKINSN Subject: PALLIDOTOMY BENIFITS?? HAVE YOU LOOKED AT YOUR LATEST CARDIOGRAM? I don't believe that this posting made it through the first time 4/19 am Sorry if I'm wrong gjl Dear Colleagues, Recently I was in need for some surgery on my right knee. As a part of my pre-surgery work up I had a routine cardiogram . My primary care physician compared it with the previous cardiogram which dates back to pre- pallidotomy days and he was "astonished" at the change. The previous cardiogram, dated 6/95, was considered abnormal and was filled with "static" and other problematic data. The most recent one was free of "static" and much of any thing else that might be considered abnormal. It is remarkable to look at its calmness. Does this mean that my heart is functioning better? My PCP certainly thinks so. I will follow this up with the neurosurgeon. Has anyone else noticed the same results? george
