I did go to CBS web site at: http://marketing.cbs.com/news/48hours/ and read: 48 Hours: "Chance of a Lifetime" Thursday, April 23 10:00PM ET/PT Check your local listings. 48 Hours examines new techniques and technologies that are working miracles, by keeping patients alive longer and increasing their quality of life. Witness firsthand some of the latest medical breakthroughs that have changed people's lives. Cindy Walentiny of Oakland, California, appears to be a typical mom. But just ask her to cut a sandwich and you will see she suffers from a debilitating disease called, "essential tremor," which causes her hand to shake uncontrollably. After almost 20 years of taking medications that did not help, Walentiny tries a revolutionary brain operation to calm her tremors. It is a risky procedure, which involves putting electrodes deep within her brain. These electrodes will be stimulated by a battery-operated device implanted in the area of her collar bone. Even the smallest mistake during surgery could cause paralysis. CBS News correspondent Susan Spencer is there as Walentiny undergoes the operation, and for the amazing aftermath.
