Since the Blizzard of '78, many New Englanders have learned to keep at least a
week's supply of canned food on hand.  That storm was so bad (40 inches of
snow on top of 20 inches that fell a couple weeks earlier), supply trucks
couldn't get through to the supermarkets, so even when one could get to the
market, there wasn't much on hand.  We also learned to keep powdered milk
around (the markets ran out of milk) and some people keep at least one loaf of
bread in the freezer (the markets were out of that, too).  Delda White CG Bob
