Dear Barb, I'm feeding off your enthusiasm! There's nothing more motivating than a positive response from a respected friend. Support is critical in building towards the collaboration it will take to succeed in opening the public eye to our plight. Collaboration between locally run nonprofits would be something we would feel a part of. It would give us visibility nationally with the opportunity to decide what is best regionally or geographically. My suggestion would be a Parkinson's Congress or legislature that would have a voice nationally with the majority of each groups funds staying local. We are starting a local Parkinson's fund-raising and charitable organization. I think with the lack of a response from the national Parkinson's groups it is time for us to find our own way. I think we are at a crossroads. It is time for us to come together for ourselves. We have been telling these groups for months now that there needs to be a collaborative and unified effort in lobbying Congress to do what is moral and what is right in regards to funding to put an end to our suffering. The response has been deafening. For the response has been pure rationale. We will never be heard by these groups until they listen. It is time for us to do it ourselves. At this point I think it's wise just to solicit ideas and responses from the list. We'll see where that takes us.
