Yes, Lori, PD does affect the voice, but there are two methods of reversing
the damage, one involves collagen injected into the vocal cords, which are
actually folds of skin that are normally spaced close together, and modulate
the air coming through, to make speech possible. When they shrink and
separate, the voice becomes weak. The injections fill them out, and after a
few treatments, the voice returns to stay. There is also a form of therapy,
called The Lee Silverman method.
