I would like to bring to the attention of graduate students and those
teaching graduate students another position in Engineering Writing and
Commuication in the School of Lingusitics and Applied Language Studies at
Carleton University. The position is posted in the current issue of
University Affairs under "Linguistics and Applied Language Studies," but
was supposed to have been listed under Rhetoric and/or Communication. I
would be grateful if you would bring the advertisement to the attention of
anyone who might be interested in applying.

Applications are invited for a three-year term position at the level of
Instructor I to teach Communication Skills courses for Engineering,
commencing September 1, 1998. Instructor positions are teaching positions
and require the incumbent to teach the equivalent of an average of 4.5 full
credit courses per year, which includes responsibility for materials,
curriculum and program development. Candidates must have at least a
Master's degree in Applied Languge Studies or a related field, with
specialization in written and spoken communication in engineering
workplace and academic settings and a permanent professional commitment to
a career in teaching engineering communication. Academic qualifications
in Engineering are a desirable additional qualification, as are training
and experience in academic ESL with an ESP (engineering) focus.
