Okay! I'm done lurking. I have been on and off the list, and now back on
again. And now WE need help. My husband has been diagnosed since 1991 at
the age of 45. He is a farmer and will stop working next month as PD has
taken its toll. He has no tremor, but the "on-off" cycles were becoming
very difficult to tolerate. He started on Tasmar eight weeks ago with good
results. Off periods were more predictable and came on much more gradually.
He was a perfect candidate for this new drug. BUT last Saturday he had an
allergic reaction that almost did him in. He woke up with no airway through
his mouth. His uvula had swelled to a point that he could not breathe
through his mouth or talk at all. He was terrified and felt at any moment
his throat would close. I took him straight to the hospital where the
swelling was reduced with steroids, etc. and we went home after a couple of
hours. We first suspected insect bite, etc. but the drs. are concerned it
might be the Tasmar. I am searching for ANY information from others who are
on it. Can you help? Of course we are hoping it is something else, but what?

One more quick item. We are ready to trace a possible of cause of his PD.
It will give him a focus when he stops working. He was stationed at the
Rocky Mountain Arsenal in Denver, Colorado in the Chemical Corps during the
Vietnam War and is beginning a search for others who served there to see if
the incidence of neurological conditions is increased due to exposure to so
many toxins. If you can help us in this area, we would be ever grateful.

Thanks for all the good jokes, touching stories, and general information.

Claire
