An article published in the November 97 issue of Neurology Reviews regarding
dopamine agonist has the following quote from Dr. Shannon a very well
respected neurologist.

"There is laboratory evidence that levodopa may actually promote
neurodegeneration, while dopamine agonists may be neuroprotective," Dr.
Shannon observed.  "This has not been demonstrated clinically, but this is a
potential indirect therapeutic benefit of the dopamine agonists."


When agonists are add levodopa dosages can usually be decreased.  With the
potential of neuroprotection I would think the earlier one starts an agonists
the better.
Any other thoughts on this subject.
