Hi Margaret,
With regard to agonists, I went onto Pergolide after =
about five years of just taking Madopar (Sinemet eqvt') and selegiline =
(Eldepryl).I stayed with the pergolide for about four years, although I =
was never convinced that it was actually doing me any good, as I could =
not pin down any benefits. However all this changed when I saw my Neurolo=
gist, and mentioned to him that I was'nt happy with pergolide, and could =
I try a new agonist which had just recently been released here in the UK,=
called Cabaser (Cabergolide). This was the best thing since sliced bread=
was invented, My "on" times increased by approx' 50%, my side effects, =
mainly dyskenesia virtually disappeared, and even in my "off" times I was=
more mobile than before. I have now been on Cabaser since November '97 =
and the benefits are still as stated, with no obvious downside.
Hope this is of some use.
Regards,
Nigel
