My condolences on the loss of your father. My own father died in Dec 1996.
Some while later I wrote the following:

(For my father)
Now that the long last silence has become eternal,
I hear his voice again, the one recalled from childhood,
and hear, in wonder, the love contained in words that
spoke of nails and saws and the shaping of wood; of
rivers and of stars.
Each of us has his or her own list of things remembered. I hope I have not
intruded by sharing mine.
