Dear Fellow List Members:

How are those letters coming? Well, I hope. Here is another shell to
consider.

Barb BrockUdall Shell #10 revised

What has happened to the Boy Scout tradition of preparedness? It was
certainly lost in the shuffle when the Morris K. Udall Act for Parkinson's
Research and Education became buried in Appropriations. Let's get that
concept out, dust it off, and take a harder look at it because we are going to
need to be prepared for the shock of our lives if we do not. The tremor of it
will be felt not only by those who become afflicted but generations yet to
come. They could be paying for our lack of preparedness for the rest of time.

PREPARE!

The lightening bolt will be hitting in about 6 years when the first Baby
Boomers reach age 57, which is the average age of diagnosis for Parkinson's
Disease. AND IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE, unless through research we can find
lasting therapies, ways to predict and prevent it and perhaps even a cure for
it.

PREPARE!

There will be moves to pull in the purse strings ("Managed Care," I think they
call it). There will be questions from your constituents asking why you
didn't know. I'll be here and just pray I don't have to tell them YOU DID
KNOW but chose not to do anything about it.

PREPARE!

We'll have to deal with it. We will have no other choice.

HOW? WHY? WHEN?

Why not deal with it now? The funding has been approved. Release it to the
cause for which it was intended. Do it because it makes fiscal sense. Do it
because you have compassion. Do it because you are invested in your nation's
future. Do it for the health of the nation you have been empowered to
protect, but DO IT!

USE ALL OF YOUR INFLUENCE TO SEE THAT THE MORRIS K. UDALL ACT FOR PARKINSON'S
RESEARCH AND EDUCATION IS FULLY FUNDED TO A LEVEL OF 100 MILLION DOLLARS
TODAY.

Please let me know how you plan to solve this situation. I look forward to
your response.
