Hello All --

I have recently begun monitoring this list for a friend of mine (Joe) with PD
and have been really impressed with the quality of information provided. I
would like to ask something on Joe's behalf.

A little background information first --

Joe is 59 and was diagnosed with PD approximately 10 years ago. Although
muscle cramps in his legs have bothered him on and off for many years (maybe
even before PD was diagnosed), they have become increasingly severe in the
past two years. The cramps are localized in the ventral thigh muscles exactly
where they contact the front lip of most chairs. He is able to get temporary
relief by taking Benadryl (sp?). It usually takes about 45 minutes for the
Benadryl to take effect and relief only lasts for about an hour. The only
other things that relieve the cramps are laying down or walking -- Joe still
comes to work every day, however, and sitting is the only option available in
his office. :)

The questions I have are:

Do you know how to relieve muscle cramps for long periods while sitting?

Do you think the cramps might be related to where the chair contacts his legs?

Are there chairs designed to help the problem?

Joe will really appreciate any insights and/or comments you might have.
Thanks!

Donna
