There are lots of support groups scattered around the world, and it would
be nice to know what the other groups are doing - how you might find a
group meeting in a city you are visiting - or there might be a support
group not too far away that is having a program of particular interest to
you. Or you might find that another group is having a program that you
would like to put on also.

Where else would you share this useful information?

Hopefully, we are getting a worldwide calendar going that will be on a web
page and which will be a good place to share monthly information. But even
as that matures, it will be fully appropriate to post your exceptional
events on the list. If your group is having a symposium, a fund-raising
event, or just a special speaker, we want to hear about it.

As least I do. And I'm quite certain that I speak for a bunch of other
list members too. On the other hand, if every support group in the world
posts news of every meeting, the number of letters on the list might grow
to unreasonable proportions. But for right now, we don't really know
enough about what other support groups are doing. I could give many
illustrations - probably off list is better - of how I am just starting to
learn about other support groups around me and what they are doing -- and I
have to work at it.

Slightly off subject, I am reminded that only a relatively small number of
support groups send representatives to the PAN Forum, which will take place
this year just a month from now. Not all support groups are represented on
the list, for that matter. I took it upon myself to visit several other
support groups after I attended the Forum last year. If I attend the Forum
this year, I shall make it a point to share my experience there with even
more support groups than last year.

In short, there are so many ways in which this list can help facilitate a
stronger, more unified Parkinsonian Community, and sharing information
about your support group and its activities is just one of these.
