One doctor said to me, "Well the jury is still out on that one," and others I've asked have said substantially the same thing. I heard recently that 60% of doctors make no attempts to keep up with their specialty. Too may advances? Too much HMO BS? Lack of interest? It's probably wise to go to different doctors rather the same one all the time.
