I am not certain of the legality of this situation. But I am aware of a system in place when I did a rotation in Pittsburgh with the transplant service during my training where meds were donated/recycled in a similar fashion. This was extremely helpful for those folks as well since their meds are outrageously expensive (in the range of $5,000 to more than $30,000 per year, depending on meds and dosages). Since it is or has been done for other medical situations, I believe it would be worthwhile to check seriously into the legality. If it is possible, then we should pursue some arrangement, perhaps based on regional groups. Excellent idea
