OK, this is going to be my only "public" comment on this. I have engaged in several communications with Ivan himself (and I don't think that Ivan has been totally civil, but I have a "thick skin") and have not put this matter out in front of the entire List. I hope that Ivan gets his money and can go to Washington. I really resent Bruce Anderson's long post earlier today. Especially the part about those of us who put "sigs" at the bottom of our posts. Those "sigs" are not there to "get business", but to make us more available to people that we exchange e-mail with. I don't treat Parkinson patients (because I am not a pallidotomist), but occasionally diagnose them and have treated some PWPs when there was no qualified neurologist around. I got on this List many years ago because of my father-in-law (a retired physician) whom I diagnosed with PD (when his own doctor missed it cold), whom I started on treatment and cared for until he moved to Hawaii to live with his son. He died of his PD about 6 months ago. I am afraid that I have to stand firm on the issue of solicitations and/or commercialism on this List. If Ivan or anyone else wants to ask people for financial help, he can write to them individually. If we, however, set the precedent that this List is "fair game" for solicitation, then the commercials are not far off in the future. If this List becomes financial or commercial, I will leave in an instant. I would like a "ruling" by Barbara, so I can make my own decisions. Best, Bob *********************************** ROBERT A.
