Bruce, Re: delay Sinemet.....to try or not to try. I was seeing Murph's neuro at the time of my diagnosis. He too encouraged me to stay away from Sinemet...7 years and your out theory.....Well, I was diagnosed nine years ago.......I wasted two years without sinemet. I was moving about, but I was also exhausted most of the time and sleeping upwards of 12 + hours per day. Then I went to Mayo's for a second opinion (and was referred by Mayo to a movement disorder specialist in my local area at the time).....the word from the neuro at Mayo was.......Sinemet doesn't lose the effectiveness. Deterioration of the disease causes loss of brain cells that will function well with the Sinemet. Enjoy life to its fullest and don't try to struggle with less than adequate drugs. Give the Sinemet a try, then wean yourself from it and see which way you feel best actifity wise during the day. I am probably doing better now than I have been in the past 8 yars.....that is with the adddition of Mirapex.....at 4.5 mg/day; plus Sinemet, plus eldepryl....so hang in there, make your own decision as to how effective the drugs are for you. You can always stop a drug, but you can never guess which is better until you have sampled the assortment. Rita Weeks.
