Hi Brian,
I am new to this list, but had to answer on the question of sinemet. My husband
has had parkinsonism plus they call it since 91 and was on for sev years, and then
he began to get a reversal of the effect, and it wrsened so i took himoff of it for
2 years and then the dr put him back on and the same thing, so i took him off of it
for another year or so and he got better, then a year ago a new neurol put him on
the lowest dose of CR and the same thing happened, the tried mirapex and it was
worse, so he has been off now for about 3 mos and is improving and I asked that he
be put on Aricept for his dementia, and they said it wouldn't help but it has and
his cognizance and attitude is better. There is another man in the park support
group I lead that has dementia with parkinsons and he has been on Aricept for 5
weeks and it has help alot even with his posture. I would question whether the
sinemet is really helping or hindering her. Tom freezes constantly and just stands
and stares at his feet while on sinemet. Hope this helps.
