I answered too fast -What you can do is write your representative and
your senators and ask that they contact Representative John Porter
requesting funding of the Udall bill. That is what I did, my
representative said he would and one senator from Texas is on the
committee. They will know how to contact him. Many representatives and
senators are against earmarking(dedicating funds to one cause). I don't
know that my approach was correct or effective, but I pointed out that
money would be saved by finding new and more effective treatments (maybe
even a cure) for Parkinsons. It is easier to prevent or adaquately treat
a disease than pay onegoing costs through SSDI, medicare and medicaid,
also many other diseases (such as AIDS ,cancer, heart disease and
others) are earmarked now. Maybe someone on the list has a better way,
but this is one way.
