Delda,

Here in the UK there is a specialist Parkinson nurse available to all members
of the Parkinson Society.
She is based in the London area and is available by phone for those PWP further
away.
She has given me invaluable advice about my PD, the medications needed to treat
it, the dosage and side effects. She was the one who advised me to "eat a
banana a day to keep cramp at bay". We need specialist help as some GP's
(doctors) are not up to speed on the new medications and there usage. To my
knowledge
there is another PWP in my area who was diagnosed with mild PD three/four years
ago
and started too early and with too big a dose of Levadopa.

: Good to have you back, Kathrynne! I've missed you. Thanks so much for your
: excellent account of all that you heard. I haven't heard of nurse
: specialists, though it sounds like a good idea. Even nurse practitioners
: still seem new-ish to me. Delda White ([log in to unmask]) CG Bob 66/1.5
