MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Former Gov. George Wallace is back
at home after being treated in a hospital for an upper
respiratory infection.
Wallace, 78, was released Thursday after a three-day stay,
Jackson Hospital spokeswoman Carmen Stegall said.
The former governor was admitted to the hospital Monday with
difficulty breathing. He had been sick for about a week with
a bad cold, said his son, George Wallace Jr.
Doctors and family members were worried about the threat of
pneumonia but doctors said Wallace's lungs were clear, his
son said.
The former governor suffers from Parkinson's disease and
various ailments related to a 1972 assassination attempt
that paralyzed his legs.
