Myron Greene writes: I began taking Mirapex in April,'98. I am also taking Sinemet 10/100 in liquid form, and Eldepryl. I began with a very minimum dosage and after 6 weeks was able to build up to the minimum therapeutic dose of 1 1/2 mg a day. I will stay at this dosage. The benefits have been a more restful sleep at night, more energy, more self esteem, and I have been able to reduce my Sinemet intake from 1000mg to 700mg a day. Also, by recording the periods when I am "ON with dyskinesia", "ON", "OFF", and "OFF with dystonia" I have reduced the periods of dyskinesia and dystonis by 1.7 hrs/day. between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM. A major problem that has begun since starting Mirapex is that at about 1:00 AM and about 3 times a week, I become severely diskinetic for up to 2 hrs. I have to hold onto the bars on either side of the bed to prevent injury. This is a major problem for me because it burns up calories, and my body weight is at a dangerously low level right now. Also, I feel exhausted the next day. All in all, I am happy to be on Mirapex, although I was reluctant to start because in 1903 Parlodel caused me to become paranoid, manic, etc., which required a drug holiday in a hospital. It took me 9 months to feel normal again. So far, I have had no psychological problems with Mirapex. ************* ((((Note from Camilla: Myron, who lives alone, would much appreciate any feedback about his posts, and I'll be glad to deliver replies to him.))))
