Your idea about the picture is an excellent one. Maybe a full/half page ad
about PD, with minimal wording and the emphasis on the picture, like you
mentioned, of all ages, races, sexes, and years, with pd, all sitting
together with the subtitle something like, "Parkinson's Disease not only can
steal your 'Golden Years', for some, the loss is felt much earlier."
Something like that anyway (probably something a little more catchy and
dramatic).
You mentioned cancer, altho' some on the list have heard this story before,
I'll bring it up again briefly. My youngest brother died of cancer when he
was 5, he got it at 2.5 years old. I may (hopefully) live with this pd for
30, 40, 50 years or more. When I hear about pd being fatal, altho' it may
get me in the end, and will most certainly affect my quality of life in the
meantime, I don't like hearing about pd being a fatal disease. Fatal to me
is death in say under 5 years. Thirty years or more to me is not fatal. I
will likely outlive many people, and I intend to do alot of living, not
dying, in that time period.
Even tho' I'm not generally into being negative and dramatic, I do sometimes
feel that way. While writing the first paragraph above about one's golden
years, the following came to me. Maybe we could stick it alongside the
picture.
