During the inquisitions the Church leaders had their own beliefs to go on. In the book of Joshua, Joshua10:12-14 God told him the sun would stand still until the battle was finished. The church leaders interpreted it their way of thinking at that time. They also put people to death for even reading or having a Bible. Just lately the Roman Catholic Church, which was the ones doing this apologized for the many things that they had done this time. They saw where they had been wrong in their beliefs.
