Very interesting question, as there have been recent attempts to
identify PD in the pre-industrial era. I don't know about early
medical literature, but a couple of old paintings show old subjects
in suspiciously PD-like posture. I believe Dr. A. Lieberman is the
leading authority on this subject. Cheers,
