Thanks for the useful list of possible guest speakers, George. It's a big
help!

FYI.... you might want to add a visit form Independence Dogs (if the support
group's in an area they're willing to travel to) <I'm in the process of
working with them right now as guests at one of my group's meetings> and the
phone company.

The latter offers all kinds of extra FREE services for the disabled, and
they're very cooperative in working with ya for weekend and nite time
meetings. (THAT was a pleasant surprise!)

Another FYI... Many of the major pharmaceutical companies have "money to burn"
when it comes to establishing high profile presence with a large specific
group of patients they are trying to sell products to. I'd suggest asking 'em
to sponsor ("sponsor," as in "PAY FOR") a luncheon or dinner meeting at a
local restaurant and to make their presentation there after the meal. If
they want a minimum number of people there, join up with one or two (or three
or four...) and you're able to present the pharmaceutical company with a large
enough group to make it worth their while to host a restaurant-event. And of
course, your members get a complimentary dine-out restaurant meal.

One last thing - many support groups seem to expect a never-ending round of
"entertainment," provided by guest speakers. Personally, I think our members
should be made to contribute their thoughts and feelings every once in a while
at a discussion and to be the "entertainment" themselves FOR themselves.
Ergo... a group discussion is born!

Any other suggestions for support group meetings will be VERY welcome!
