Ellen, Welcome to our List! You have come to the right place to find your
answers, and to meet someone to correspond with who is just like you.

Don't give up though.. Be patient with the volume of mail, which can seem
overwhelming at times. We are supposed to use the Subject line to be as
explicit as we can, and especially to put "NON PD" when it is about some
other topic, most of which can be interesting but not to all of us. You will
learn to use your Delete key to survive!

Any relation to Ron Guidry, the former Yankee great who was also from
Louisiana?
Bruce Anderson (52, 3.5+)

>My name is Ellen Guidry. I am 61 years old and was diagnosed with PD two
>years ago but know I have had it a lot longer. I do not have a tremor
>which made it more difficult to diagnose my problem.
>
>I am taking Sinemet 25/250 twice a day, taking Parlodel 2.5 MG. three times
>a day, and also have been taking one TASMAR daily for a month. I have
>gradually gotten worse as the months have passed since my diagnosis and the
>DR. had increased my meds along. The first Neurologist I went to said I
>had mild PD, and told me I might not get worse for 10 years, but of course
>he was wrong. I have steadily gotten stiffer and have more problems with
>balance.
>
>I am however optimistic and I do not intend to let this thing get me down.
>I signed on this list the end of May but because of computer problems and
>then a busy summer I did not get back to reading anything until a few days
>ago. I am interested in learning what I can about the meds offered and
>what PD patients do about certain problems. I am also interested in
>communicating with someone privately who has symptoms similar to my own.

>I am a retired social studies and English teacher from Louisiana, (hence
>the Cajun surname) and I now live in Missouri with my DH. Until this last
>spring my mother who will be 89 in Sept. lived with us. In April of this
>year it became necessary to put her in a nursing home since I could no
>longer care for her myself here at home.
>She seems content where she is and I visit her 3 or 4 times a week.
>
>I was always an outside person, who enjoyed gardening, flowers, fishing
>activities, etc. so it has been hard on me to accept the changes in my
>lifestyle, but I am working now at writing a novel, which I had wanted to
>do and planned to do for years. So as long as I can still use the computer
>keyboard I will have something to occupy my time.
>
>Sincerely.
