Hello fellow Parkie's I am new to the list. My name is Bernard Shaw. =

all but I am not the famous GBS or the newscaster.I am a Parkie that =
likes to write verse. You=20
might ask what am I doing on a PD list.. I was diagnosed some fifteen =
years ago as having PD=20
but the first symptoms that I remember was when I was 25 years old.. =
Shaking hands, nervous=20
twitching occasionally dropping something because my hands, especially =
the left, had no=20
strength for a couple of seconds. I was walking up a hill and my legs =
started to run away with=20
me.. I was lucky I managed to grab a lamp post for support and to stop =
me falling.. Like most=20
Parkies that I have spoken to one ignores these symptoms. After all we =
have a life to lead. I=20
ignored them! I carried on with my life. Around my fiftieth birthday I =
developed back aches. My=20
hands began to shake. I had little or no strength not even to screw a =
screw into a piece of=20
machinery. Saliva formed in my mouth I could not swallow properly. I =
started to dribble as I=20
probably did as a child. My face became like a mask .I was often asked. =
"What are you staring=20
at," I was not staring of course I was developing into a Parkie. I did =
not go to seek medical help=20
until the terrible night mares started. I would wake in the night =
screaming at the top of my voice;=20
punching holes in the air. My poor wife, ( My best pal for the last 43 =
years.) made me go to see=20
our local Physician. Here I was given sleeping pills and tablets for my =
back. The symptoms got=20
worse. My wife then took me to a specialist. This man told me straight =
to my face, That I had=20
Parkinson Syndrome.. I was taken aback. Parkinson syndrome? What on =
earth was that.. I was=20
given a letter and sent to our local Neurological and Psychiatric =
clinic. Here I was kept for=20
observation and started off on Dopamine . I had other pills to take. I =
was depressive, continuous=20
back ache. I wound up taking twenty one tablets in the course of a day. =
I was discharged after=20
three weeks .On arriving home I threw all of my tablets except the =
Dopamine and the Rohypnol,=20
and the Cinnebene away. In the last twelve to fifteen years I have been =
in the clinic at least=20
twelve times.. I am still a great optimist and I firmly believe that we =
will soon have a remedy for=20
all the Parkies. I greet especially those wonderful people that have =
taken care of me and those=20
that have helped you other Parkies. Our Wives, Husbands, Families .yes =
even the neighbours, =20
not to mention the hospital staff where ever they are. All are in my =
prayers ,Parkies helpers=20
families and Doctor Parkinson, The man that took the trouble to diagnose =
and write the history=20
of this PD. I have spouted on, sorry that it is so long this epistle =
that was intended to be a very=20
