Hello there, I did introduce myself before but I think that my letter of
introduction was sent by mistake as a file. I will try again. Here goes. My
name is Bernard Shaw. I live in Austria, Europe. I have had Parkinson's
since 1983. My medication is Sinamet 250 grams three times a day. Cinnebene
one capsule at night. Rohypnol 2 tablets at night time. I think a better way
to introduce myself is by writing this Poem that I wrote after three years
of Parkinson.
It started off my back did ache.
Then my hands began to shake.
My legs are heavy like lumps of lead.
Then a slight shaking of my head.
With eyes on the ground and head bent low,
Faster and faster did I go.
Drinking Tea from out of a cup.
Sitting down getting up.
Writing a letter or signing my name,
To me now it is all the same.
It won't get better this I know,
For Doctor Parkinson, tells me so.
So if I FREEZE or SHAKE a lot,
Please don't rush me, Better not.
And if I fall flat on my face,
Pick me up it's no disgrace.
I'm not crazy when I look,
Like some character out of a book.
When I dribble like a child,
My face a mask like some-one wild.
Please don't think that I'm insane,
It's just that Parkinson again.
In my own inimitable way,
I take my tablets every day.
Sinamet and a lot more,
I have to count them that's for sure.
When the Doctor says to me,
You are doing fine, That I can see.
I think my thoughts one by one,
And say a prayer for Parkinson.
When next you see me, PLEASE don't stare,
Just look and smile,I know You care.
Do not try to help me, Let me be,
For Parkinson doesn't bother me.
When my voice is very low,
It wont get louder, I'll have you know.
So listen carefully when I'm spouting,
My whisper to you, Is really shouting.
As I type every day,In the old two finger way.
My thoughts stray back though the years,
Trying to sort out all my fears.
Is it something I have done,
That has given me this Parkinson.
So if you dear reader, suffer to,
My only words of advice to you,
Get up and about, don't sit and mope.
Trust in God, don't sit and mope.
For one day there will surely be.
A cure for you, and a cure for me.
                     Bernard Shaw.
That just about describes me folks, let me hear from you. I am always open
for a chat or even perhaps some good advice. I've been there and know how
you feel. Bye for this time Bern..
