As a psychologist I immediately started to think about possible isssues of fear, etc., but it "didn't feel right." Perhaps a letter to Hanks directly would be helpful. I know that actors will add these "ad libs" at times and further define their character or add a curious and captivating "odd note" to the role. A letter from this list might bring an interesting tidbit but could also capture his attention and perhaps enlist the interest of a significant person.
