Dear Barb and List Serv members: Thank you for welcoming me to the PARKINSN list. Although this is my first posting here, I have been reading and observing with interest for the last few days. I am a Registered Nurse and I am the Patient Services Director for the National Parkinson Foundation, headquartered in Miami. I deal with anything that has to do with the needs of a PWP, such as assistance in locating a Movement Disorders Specialist, Parkinson Support Groups, local information and how to obtain the various types of assistance needed. I oversee our open forum and I respond to phone calls and letters to the Foundation that deal with the above as well as medication questions. Sometimes, I am here just to lend a shoulder and provide emotional support, something we all need! Not only do I have a professional interest in Parkinson's, but a personal interest as my mother has Parkinson's. Knowing that I can assist someone who has the same devastating illness as my mother, brings me great satisfaction. Also, because I am the daughter of a PWP, I fully understand, as I have had, and still have, the gamut of emotions and issues that face family members. I look forward to reading and learning from the postings on the PARKINSN list. Again, thanks for the welcome! Bonnie Cunningham, R.N. Patient Services Director National Parkinson Foundation 1-800-327-4545 Dear Bonnie: Welcome to the PARKINSN list. Please send a message to the list (if you want to) introducing yourself and any Parkinson's-related topics you would like. Let me introduce myself. I am a secretary for six faculty members in the School of Nursing, McMaster University. In September, 1992, I was diagnosed as having Parkinson's...hence my interest in this list. I have appended the guide below this message. I hope you enjoy your involvement with the PARKINSN list. Barb
