A little information. Social Security no longer classes addiction (either drugs nor alcohol) as a disability. Because of the abuses of the system this change was made over 2 years ago. Also, they have tightened the rules for all people applying and especially children. The number one thing to remember when applying for your Social Security Disability is GET THE DOCTORS TO WRITE AND SIGN THAT YOU ARE 100% DISABLED AND HAVE BEEN / WILL BE FOR AT LEAST 12 MONTHS. Get this up front. When you send in your first set of forms, which you were given at your interview or were mailed to you with forms from your telephone interview SEND IN THE DOCTORS RECORDS. If these medical records are not more that 12 months old and are accepted, then you may not need an attorney and may get it sooner. Also, the attorney will be paid before you ever see any money. SSA will pay him/her, up to, I believe, 1/3 or the retro check or $4000 whichever is SMALLER. "don't forget how to laugh, and do it often" Marling [log in to unmask] http://members.tripod.com/~marling
